Becoming — two craft stick loops, one large and one small, nested off-center in a single sculpture standing on two small blocks

Becoming

What appears unbalanced is balanced just enough.

Growth rarely happens without struggle.

The effort, difficulties, and tensions we experience are often part of what shapes who we become.

I wanted Becoming to express some of that tension. I spent a lot of time experimenting with the relationship between the curved forms, looking for something that felt unsettled but still held together.

One of the things I love about working with craft sticks is what each one represents to me — a moment, a decision, a relationship. Thousands of small things coming together to create something greater than any one of them.

I hope Becoming gives people a moment to consider what they're becoming, and the experiences and tensions that are shaping them along the way.
