Early Work & Explorations

Bedside Shelves

I had a bunch of craft-stick panels left over from a project I decided not to finish. A couple of years later, I found them and figured I might as well make something useful out of them rather than let them go to waste.

So I built this bedside table.

Like a lot of my early work, it was less about making a statement and more about solving problems as I went. I tried a construction technique that didn’t work as well as I hoped, and there were a lot of small adjustments along the way, including adding more layers to the top.

It taught me a lot.

There’s also something you can’t see in this photograph. I built hidden shelves into the back to hold medication where it wouldn’t be visible to the kids.

It still sits beside my bed and still gets used.
